ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Sara Lefever.

Instructional Designer • LMS Administrator • Project Manager

Dedicated to transforming learning into meaningful, intuitive, and impactful experiences.

With over 12 years of combined experience across healthcare, instructional design, and education, I bring a unique blend of creativity, technical expertise, and process-driven project leadership to every learning initiative I support. Whether I’m designing an interactive eLearning module, building a system-wide training curriculum, or optimizing an LMS to improve user experience, my work is rooted in one purpose:

Create learning that is clear, accessible, and genuinely useful to the people who rely on it.

Professional Background

My career began in K–12 education, where I taught STEAM, filmmaking, broadcast journalism, and gifted education. Those years sharpened my skills in curriculum development, learner engagement, instructional technology, and creative design—skills that continue to anchor my work today.

I transitioned into healthcare training and instructional design, earning my Epic Prelude & Grand Central credential and eventually large-scale training initiatives, eLearning development, and system go-lives. During my time at WellSpan Health, I:

  • Designed interactive eLearning modules using Adobe Captivate

  • Built structured training programs grounded in adult learning theory

  • Facilitated a Non-Clinical Super User program

  • Managed SharePoint documentation systems

  • Supported major go-lives and workflow transitions

Now, as an Instructional Designer & LMS Administrator at Penn State Health, my work focuses on:

  • Designing and developing instructional materials that support clinical educators

  • Collaborating with subject matter experts to translate complex workflows into clear, user-friendly learning experiences

  • Managing the LMS through course builds, content updates, reporting, and troubleshooting

  • Ensuring training aligns with organizational standards and regulatory requirements

  • Supporting initiatives across multiple hospitals and service lines

Every day, I combine technical ability, process expertise, and instructional design strategy to build learning solutions that actually make a difference.

What I Do Best

Instructional Design

I create structured, visually engaging learning materials—eLearning modules, job aids, scripts, and assessments—that make complex information approachable and actionable.

LMS Administration

From course deployment to reporting, troubleshooting, and content architecture, I ensure that learning systems support staff needs and organizational goals.

Project Leadership

I excel at planning, organizing, and coordinating training projects: timeline management, communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

My toolkit includes Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, SCORM, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Google Suite, and extensive experience with Epic, Cornerstone Compass, and clinical training workflows.

My Approach

I believe the best learning experiences...

  ✔ start with empathy

✔ are rooted in clear objectives

✔ are built around the learner’s workflow

✔ and are designed with accessibility and clarity in mind

I design learning that feels useful, not overwhelming. Practical, not theoretical. Engaging, not noisy.

This means:

  • Listening closely to SMEs and frontline staff

  • Breaking down complex systems into digestible steps

  • Designing through visuals and interactions

  • Testing and refining through feedback

  • Tracking outcomes through data

My goal is always to help people feel confident, supported, and ready in their roles.

Beyond the Work

Creativity energizes my process. My background in video production, STEAM education, and even pixel-art design shapes how I approach learning: with curiosity, innovation, and a willingness to experiment.

I enjoy building gamified concepts, exploring VR/AR learning experiences, and creating training that feels more like an experience than a requirement.

Outside of work, you’ll find me exploring instructional technology, experimenting with recipes, designing game-inspired visuals, or planning new ways to blend creativity with education.
